Joslyn grew up in the small town of Parable, Montana, with her mom and step-dad Elliott. Joslyn was "spoiled," and had everything and anything she wanted, a large home, a wonderful housekeeper, Opal, an only child, and the list goes on. However, one evening, Joslyn's step-dad is taken to jail for cheating a lot of the towns people out of their money and the rest of the family moves out of town...quickly and in the middle of the night, leaving a lot of stuff behind.
Years later, Joslyn, sells her business to pay back everyone Elliott cheated, after all it is her responsibility, or is it? On top of that she decides she needs to go back to Parable. She moves in with her long time girlfriend, Kendra, who lives in her old home. Kendra and Hutch, Joslyn's high school sweetheart, are the only two real friends she has left in Parable, the only two who stuck up for her after what Elliott did. But how is she going to face everyone? What will they think of her? Do Hutch and Joslyn still have feelings for each other?
Joslyn meets up with the sheriff in town, Slade, who she also knew from high school, but he was from the "other" side of town. Slade always thought of Joslyn as a "princess" who had everything. Will his opinion change? Slade also has a gorgeous ex-wife and a step-daughter, Shea, who show up in Parable. Shea talks her mom into letting her stay for the summer, alone with her step-dad. Joslyn has basic feelings for Slade, but it is really love? What about his step-daughter?
This is a very intriguing book and keeps you involved with all the characters. I can't wait to read her next book "Big Sky Mountain."
I received this book free from the publisher for this review. I was not required to write a positive review. These opinions about this book are my own.
